Join us. With no expectations from yourself or your kids. This is just real families, coming together to support each other and maybe learn a few things about food and cooking along the way. You'll end up with something nice to eat for lunch and if your household is anything like ours then that is a great achievement in itself. Next Tuesday - Kate who runs our Herefordshire hub will take inspiration from the local Food Bank parcels to cook Veggie Chilli, with the help of Carmen from our East London hub. Book here (Bookings will close at 10.15am Tuesday, and after that you'll receive an email with a 'zoom' link to join. Room opens 10.45am, session starts 11am) You don’t need anything special to take part. You don’t even need to be in the kitchen! Find a space on a table, in a corner, on a picnic blanket... What you might find useful:
Beans (kidney beans, haricot or black beans, whatever you have at home, a couple of different varieties might be nice)
Spring Onions (or regular onions, even leeks would do)
Peppers (if you have them, could even be ones in a jar)
Tomatoes (fresh or tinned and/or passata)
Mild Chilli powder
Pitta or rice to serve
A short note about ingredients: we try to use local and seasonal produce and tweak recipes accordingly. Tweaking is also necessary at the moment now that we can only leave home for essentials. For this reason we've given you loads of options, please don't be daunted by them! We will also help with substitutions on the day.
