Every 4th Wednesday of the month
Starting 22nd January
Titley Village Hall, Green Lane, Titley, Kington
10am – 12.30pm
The idea for sessions in Kington came from one of our volunteers, Carrie. Living just outside Kington herself, Carrie was keen to put something back into her community with some voluntary work. She is an artist, with a passion for food and cooking and so passing on these skills seemed like a good place to start. Having been involved in teaching for many years through her work as an artist, she felt inspired to try to find a way to teach children how to cook;
“I feel food and cooking is a very important part of children’s learning”
Having been initially unsure how to go about setting up her own sessions, Carrie was fortunate enough to be told about Kids Kitchen from a friend and after exploring it further, felt it was exactly the support she was looking for;
“I heard about kids kitchen and did the training to get ideas on how to set up the children’s workshops.
It was very useful, I enjoyed it and it has given me the confidence and the support to go ahead with my idea.”
As a mother and grandmother herself, Carrie understands how difficult life with small children can be and how isolating many people can find it so is looking forward to the community aspect of the project as well as sharing recipe ideas and cooking techniques. These sessions should bring some much needed creative and inspiring time to the young families in and around the Kington area.
We can’t wait to get started!
