“I didn’t really know what to expect, but halfway through the first session I was inspired!
Despite the pandemic, I’m connecting more, making new friends and slowly easing myself into a new venture working locally and being part of my community again.”
We have been working on this wonderful project funded for a few months in Waltham Forest but now we are able to offer this to residents in more boroughs in London! See the end of this post for a full list.
This project offers new skills, a confidence boost, a sense of direction and the support of others. It’s also possible to work through around a family and is therefore popular with parents and carers. We not only have been able to offer our training to unemployed people but also employment support and advice.
The course has been set up to work for all levels, whether they have little or lots of cooking experience, and uses pictures and other visual aids to help overcome any language or communication barriers. It is now available as a video course so flexible around busy lives.
“This course seems simple but brings together ideas on child development, nutrition, health, and gives you the opportunity to enjoy running a shared activity that looks at the overall well-being of the family,” say Sam, one of our trainees.
Our trainees are fantastic people who want to be a positive influence in their community while making great work for themselves. We do our best to help them figure out just how. If this sounds like you and you live in one of these London boroughs then get in touch with Alice [email protected] or call 07900935110.
